What side effects can I expect after CO2 LASER ?

1)Postoperative swelling and redness is expected and is lessened within 3 - 7 days.?

2)Hyperpigmentation, and more rarely, hypopigmentation, may result in the laser-treated areas. In general, the hyperpigmented areas may be treated with bleaching cream to facilitate fading of the pigment. Hypopigmentation is more difficult to treat.

3)Bacterial infections can be prevented by taking an antibiotic continuing for 7 days post-procedure

How to care for your skin after treatment?

1)Cleanse skin with gentle, soap-free cleanser no more than twice a day. Use a soap-free cleanser and rinse with tepid water. Do not scrub or rub at the skin. Gently pat the skin dry with a towel or let the skin air-dry

2)Keep skin moist by applying emollient lotions and creams. Apply healing ointment liberally for three days following treatment to speed recovery.

3)Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks. Sunlight can cause severe damage to skin after laser treatment, so it is crucial to remain indoors for at least several days. If you must go outside, make sure you slather your skin in sun block and wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses. Even after your skin has healed, it will be sensitive to sunlight, so continue to apply sunscreen and wear hats before going outside.
